3D Fat Grafting Phoenix
3D fat grafting is an outpatient procedure that removes fat from certain areas (flanks, abdomen, or thighs) and is placed in the face. This is a modified face lift that will enhance the facial features.
As people age, the skin loses its elasticity and the volume of fat cells becomes more and more depleted. Quite simply, as we age, our facial soft tissues atrophy (shrink) quite steadily with time. 3D fat grafting allows our board certified plastic surgeons here at North Valley Plastic Surgery to transfer living fat cells to areas in the face that have lost their plumpness, fullness, and dimension. The main areas for facial 3D fat grafting are: cheeks, chin, eyelids, and lips.
During the initial complimentary consultation, the surgeon will discuss the areas of concern; and, from which area the fat should be harvested for the grafting procedure. This procedure can be done under general or twilight anesthesia.
What to Expect During the Procedure
Once the transfer area for fat cells has been decided (usually flanks, abdomen, or thighs), the procedure will use a small cannula to suction out the fat cells. It will then be transferred into the designated areas in the face, with special blunt tipped needles that are designed for use in fat transfer procedures.
What to Expect During the Recovery Period
Post-operatively, there will be swelling and possible bruising. This should subside within two weeks. The procedure can have lasting effects and leave one’s face looking younger, fuller, and more natural. Our board certified plastic surgeons, here at North Valley Plastic Surgery, may use 3D fat grafting at the time of other facial rejuvenation procedures such as face lift, rhinoplasty, brows or eyelid lift surgeries.
It is possible that a second fat graft would be necessary to achieve the desired look. For that reason, we will maintain a supply of one’s harvested donor fat in our designated freezer for touch-up procedures up to one year after surgery.
