Hymen Restoration Phoenix
What is the Hymen?
The hymen is a membrane that surrounds or partially covers the external vaginal opening. It forms part of the vulva, or external genitalia, and is similar in structure to the vagina. The mucosal fold at the opening which remains in the middle is the hymen. The most common appearance of the hymen is crescent-shaped but there is a wide variation in the shape of the hymen.

Can someone tell I’m not a virgin because I don’t have a hymen?
No. It’s an erroneous belief that sexual intercourse always removes the hymen. It is also an erroneous belief that lack of an intact hymen means that a woman is not a virgin. When a person has an elastic hymen, it can stay in place after sex. In other cases, there may be parts of the hymen that stay in place after sex called carunculae myrtiformes. Of course, sexual intercourse can cause the hymen to disappear completely but it may also be lacerated by disease, injury, medical examination, masturbation, or exercise. For these reasons, the state of the hymen is not a conclusive indicator of virginity.
Why would someone want their hymen repaired?
There are no medical reasons to restore the hymen. The loss of a hymen is natural, inconsequential, and tells nothing conclusively about a person’s virginity. Nevertheless, there are cultures and individuals that have a strong feeling that having a hymen is extremely important for them. Reasons for hymen repair come from various sociological, religious, and cultural influences. Although it can be difficult for many to understand, the desire to have hymen restoration is a personal decision often related to the importance of appearing as a virgin before marriage. Like any cosmetic procedure, the reasons and results have personal meaning to the patient that don’t have to be explained or understood by others.
