Day of Treatment or Procedure

Keep treated area covered with Aquaphor, BioMedic Gentle Healing Ointment, or PCA Silcoat. You may be prescribed pain medications, however, Extra Strength Tylenol may be used. Be sure to relax the rest of the day and keep your head elevated with two pillows behind the head and neck to help reduce swelling.

Days 2-7

  • You may begin taking a shower the day following the procedure. You may cleanse your face with a MILD/GENTLE cleanser and cool water.
  • Apply Aquaphor, BioMedic Gentle Healing Ointment, or PCA Silkcoat to the treated areas 3 times a day or as needed to keep the areas moist.
  • Continue to take pain medication as needed and prescribed. Continue to keep your head elevated.
  • A crust will form over the treated areas. This should not be picked or scratched but allowed to heal naturally. PICKING CAN RESULT IN PERMANENT SCARRING. PICKING CAN ALSO CAUSE BLEEDING AND INFECTION.

Days 8 to 4 Weeks

An appointment with the aesthetician is highly recommended 1 week after your procedure to discuss your healing. (How is the area doing, what products to use, what make-up to use and how to maintain your results.)

Avoid Getting Sun On The Area For The First 6-8 Weeks!

The treated area will be extremely sensitive to sun exposure and damage can occur. A Sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher is recommended and should be applied daily as part of your regimen regardless if you are going outside! This practice can play a very vital role in maintaining and protecting your new skin. Complete sun avoidance for at least 1 year is highly advised.

Once the crusting has subsided, the treated area will be very red. This will gradually subside over the next several days and sometimes weeks. Applications of topical Vitamin C and prescription strength Hydroquinone will help to greatly reduce the redness and accelerate the healing process. These items are available in our office and can be dispensed at the time of your appointment with the aesthetician.
