Artefill^™ dermal filler corrects wrinkles and restores volume to the face. The polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres in this filler stimulate the body’s own natural production of collagen. This product can offer five years plus of correction.

Although extremely rare, before having Artefill^â„¢ injected, one must do a skin test, to make sure he/she is not allergic to the product. The test is usually done in the arm, much like a TB test. Artefill^â„¢ cannot be placed in the lips.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Artefill^â„¢ is injected into the area of desired correction, utilizing various types of anesthetic. Generally, it takes two to three syringes per area. With Artefill^â„¢, one will notice an immediate correction. Patients return four to six weeks after their first treatment for evaluation and probable second injection.

What to Expect After the Procedure

After the procedure, the treated areas will be slightly swollen. One will be sent home with reusable ice packs to apply throughout the day. One should avoid strenuous activity the next day or two following the procedure. The immediate result will slowly dissipate, in about three weeks. The body will then start to reproduce its own collagen, in response to the microspheres, thus plumping the area once again.

Once one has achieved the level of correction desired, touchups are not necessary.
