Photo Facial

The Photo Facial (also known as Photofacial and Fotofacial) is a skin treatment that reduces the appearance of: broken capillaries, enlarged pores, rosacea, Facial Spider Veins, sun damage, and sun spots. The device uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to target the blood vessels and pigment. Photo Facial will create tightness of the skin, as well as soften the texture.

Areas that can be treated include:

  • Arms
  • Back
  • Chest
  • Face
  • Legs
  • Neck

For optimal results, Photofacials are recommended three weeks apart. Depending on the outcome and expectation, three to five treatments are recommended, along with ongoing maintenance to continue results. Our licensed paramedical aestheticians here at North Valley Plastic Surgery will provide you with detailed information on how to employ the Fotofacial treatments to best suite your needs.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Once the skin is cleansed, a light layer of gel is applied. The gel will be cool, and will allow the Fotofacial handpiece to glide across your skin. Laser goggles will be worn to block the light. The handpiece will slowly heat up the skin, while targeting skin discoloration and help remove the unwanted pigment.

What to Expect After the Procedure

Following Photo Facial treatment, your skin will be red. Sun spots will be darker and will naturally slough off or fade, within one to two weeks. Spider veins and broken capillaries can dissipate immediately during the treatment, or it can take up to two weeks for them to fade. Rosacea will be less apparent within one week following your Photo Facial treatments.

There is no downtime with Photofacial. It is important to wear sunscreen because one will be sensitive to the sun following the treatment. Exposure to the sun can cause new, unwanted pigment, and reverse the effects of the photo facial. Makeup can be worn the next day.
